EC One
Jos and Alison Skeates of EC One tell us about the sparkly spring trends in the jewelry department.
Being named ‘fashion jewellery retailer of the year’ for the second year running gives us a lot to live up to. Having a love of both jewellery and fashion makes buying my ideal job and something that seems to come naturally. I love to look at trends and go to shows tirelessly looking for inspiration and thinking about the pieces we know our customers will like and want to buy.
The catwalks were awash with showstopping brights and romantic pieces – there seems to be a return to all things feminine this summer. Jewellery and accessories are key to these looks and we have bought some fantastic pieces which are eyecatching and on trend.
A key look which all the press are already talking about are bangles, Vogue this month mentions ‘Bangles – the easiest wardrobe update’. The beautifully made lacquered wood Rose Morant Bangles tick both the brights and bangles box. Pile them high on your arm for an instant summer look.
Helena Rohner’s porcelain pebble-shaped globes in vivid yellow on silver chain necklace are perfect for the New Age Traveller trend. With ethnic undertones and organic in shape, this piece is easy to wear and fits in to many of they key summer looks. A fabulous holiday piece, worn with a simple summer dress the colour will accentuate a tan and add interest to a simple outfit.
The English garden featured heavily as inspiration for many collections at the shows; this summer everyone will wearing floral dresses, blouses and 50’s inspired clothing. To compliment this trend, Clara Francis has produced some beautiful nature inspired pieces; pretty hoop earrings and pendants feature delicate butterflies and hummingbirds for a truly feminine collection.
EC One are proud to celebrate ten years in the business this year. Over the years we have worked hard to seek inspiration from trends whilst listening to our customers and showcasing eyecatching pieces and individual designers.
