Bright thinking with top interior designer Karen Haller who gives us the perfect remedy to bring a ray of light into our homes.
Over the winter blues? After the long dark winter days we are all in need of a few quick and simple ways to welcome in spring and bring light back into our homes and focusing on how light makes such a difference to our living space.
- The most perfect light to bring into a room is natural light and this is the perfect time of year to do it. Throw open the curtains and let the light flood in. The next best thing is using daylight bulbs which mimic as closely as possible the qualities of natural light.
- The absence of windows in a room such as a bathroom needn't be a reason for not having a bright, light room. Installing a sunpipe will allow natural light to flood in.
- Equally, light can be brought into the room with the use of colour. Look for hues that are at the lighter end of the colour palette whether that is a tint, tone or shade they can make a huge difference to the ‘look’ of a room.
- Glass and mirrors reflect light back into a room increasing the level of light and provide the illusion of more space which is perfect for many London homes.

Not only do we feel energised and healthy living with natural light, it's also a great way to reduce our electricity bills.
Karen specialises in holistic interior design and colour.
